Divorce is one of the most stressful experiences that any person can go through. If you are currently in the middle of a divorce, you may already know how difficult stress can be on your body.

U.S. News has some tips to mind your health throughout a divorce.

Consider diet

Stress can change your diet. You may catch yourself skipping meals or overeating on junk food. Some divorcees put on weight, whereas others may lose too much weight during a divorce. To try to stop yourself from developing unhealthy habits, consider meal prep and planning.

Get exercise

It can be easy to forget to exercise when you are under a lot of stress. You do not want to forget about your body’s health. While you may spend a lot of your time dealing with issues surrounding the divorce, make sure that you set aside time for yourself. It can be as simple as a daily jog. Exercise can also be a natural mood enhancer.

Try to relax

Stress can lead to several health problems. You may experience hair loss, poor immune health, gastrointestinal issues and more. Stress wreaks havoc on the body. While it is normal to experience stress during a divorce, you can do things to help offset it. For some people, massages and yoga can help alleviate the stress from the divorce.

Do your best to stay mindful. Ground yourself in the present rather than dwelling on the past relationship. You may want to go outside or enjoy the simple things so that you do not fall into a pattern of catastrophic thoughts.
